Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Pulsync.

Getting Started

What is Pulsync? expand_more

Pulsync helps you record health measurements quickly using your iPhone camera or manual entry, and (optionally) syncs them to Apple Health.

Which measurements can I track? expand_more

You can track Blood Pressure (systolic/diastolic), Blood Sugar, Heart Rate, Temperature, Weight, Oxygen Saturation, and Steps (pedometer).

Do I need an internet connection to use Pulsync? expand_more

No. Pulsync stores data on your device and works offline. If you enable Apple Health sync, Pulsync writes your measurements to the Health app on your device.

Capturing Measurements

How do I capture a reading with the camera? expand_more

Go to the Capture tab, select a measurement type, and tap "Capture Reading." Aim your camera at the device display (e.g., a blood pressure monitor). Pulsync processes the photo and lets you review and save the extracted values.

What if the camera can't read my device? expand_more

You can always tap "Enter Manually" in the Capture tab and type in your values. Try improving lighting and holding the camera steady for better recognition.

Do you store the photos I take? expand_more

Pulsync uses the photo for on-device processing during capture and review. It does not automatically save these images to your photo library.

Can I enter measurements manually? expand_more

Yes. Tap "Enter Manually" in the Capture tab to type in your values. Blood Pressure has dedicated fields for systolic and diastolic, and an optional field for pulse.

Can Pulsync read measurements directly from my device via Bluetooth? expand_more

Not at this time. Pulsync supports camera capture and manual entry.

Apple Health Sync

Do I have to connect Pulsync to Apple Health? expand_more

No. Apple Health sync is optional. You can turn it on/off in Settings.

What does Pulsync write to Apple Health? expand_more

When enabled, Pulsync can write Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, Heart Rate, Temperature, Weight, Oxygen Saturation, and Steps. You can control permissions during the authorization prompt.

What's the difference between Auto Sync and Manual Sync? expand_more

Auto Sync (optional) writes to Apple Health immediately after saving a measurement. Manual Sync lets you review and sync pending items from Settings or History.

Why do I see "Pending" or "Failed" sync status? expand_more

Pending means the measurement hasn't been written to Apple Health yet (for example, if Auto Sync is off). Failed indicates a write error (often due to missing permissions). You can try syncing again after allowing the necessary permissions in the Health app.

Can Pulsync read data from Apple Health? expand_more

Pulsync focuses on writing your measurements to Health. It doesn't import existing data from Apple Health.

History and Data Management

How do I delete a measurement? expand_more

Open the History tab and swipe left on a measurement to delete it.

Can I edit a measurement? expand_more

If a value is incorrect, delete the measurement and re-enter it with the correct values.

How do I filter my history? expand_more

Tap the Filter button in History to filter by measurement type or sync status.

Exporting Data

How do I export my measurements? expand_more

Go to Settings and tap "Export Data." Pulsync generates a CSV file and opens the iOS share sheet so you can save it or send it via Mail, Messages, Files, etc.

What's included in the CSV? expand_more

The export includes key fields such as timestamp, measurement type, value(s), unit, notes (if any), and sync status. Blood Pressure entries include systolic and diastolic; pulse appears as a separate Heart Rate row.

I see "No data available to export." expand_more

You'll need to add at least one measurement before exporting.

Permissions

Why is the camera not working? expand_more

Pulsync needs camera access to capture readings from your device's display. If you denied permission, open iOS Settings > Pulsync and allow Camera access.

Apple Health says "Not Allowed." expand_more

In Settings > Pulsync, enable Apple Health and tap "Auto Sync" if desired. If Health permissions are still not allowed, open the Apple Health app > your profile > Apps > Pulsync, and enable the data types you want Pulsync to write.

Privacy & Security

Where is my data stored? expand_more

Your measurements are stored locally on your device. If you enable Apple Health sync, Pulsync writes your measurements to the Health app on your device.

Does Pulsync send my data to a server? expand_more

No. Pulsync doesn't require a server to function. Your data stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it.

Are my photos uploaded? expand_more

No. Photos used for capture are processed on-device and are not uploaded by Pulsync.

Troubleshooting

The app can't recognize numbers from my device's screen. expand_more

Try improving lighting, reducing glare, and holding the camera steady. If the issue persists, use "Enter Manually" to record the values.

My measurements aren't syncing to Apple Health. expand_more

Make sure Apple Health sync is enabled in Settings and that you've allowed Pulsync to write each data type in the Health app. You can also try Manual Sync in Settings or History.

Export doesn't work or shows an error. expand_more

Ensure you have at least one measurement recorded. If the issue persists, try again or send the CSV to yourself using a different share destination.

Shortcuts & Quick Actions

Can I quickly jump to capturing a specific measurement? expand_more

Yes. Long-press the Pulsync app icon on your Home Screen to use quick actions (e.g., "Scan Blood Pressure," "Scan Heart Rate," "Scan Blood Sugar").
